Early Life and Career

Born on January 6, 1982, Gilbert Arenas attended Grant High School in the Valley.

Arenas entered the NBA in the 2001–02 season after being selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 31st overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft. Arenas quickly established himself as a rising star, averaging 20.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game in his rookie year.

Peak Years

Arenas' best years came with the Washington Wizards, where he was a three-time All-Star and one-time All-NBA Second Team selection.

In the 2005-06 season, he led the NBA in scoring with 29.3 points per game and was named to the NBA's All-NBA Second Team.

Controversies and Decline

In 2009, Arenas was suspended indefinitely by the NBA for bringing a gun into the Washington Wizards locker room.

Arenas was traded to the Orlando Magic in 2010, and then to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2012.

He retired from the NBA in 2013 after averaging 20.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game in his career.
